Marinautics Designer Introduction
We are in the planning and design stages but the architecture of our product offerings is well understood. We will be releasing a core framework application that addresses the first stages in what is referred to as the design spiral. As you, the designer, progresses through this stage additional modules will be available to plug in that extend the capabilities of the application to support further detail until you end up with a fully developed detailed design of your boat.
We are aimed at the small boat builder and sophisticated hobbyist and expect to deliver real value in this market segment.
Hydrostatics (Core Platform)
This is the basic level of design software and will support establishing the lines drawings of the hull design as well as determining all the basics of stability, buoyancy, displacement, and trim.
Hydrodynamics
When you add this module you will be able to determine the propulsion requirements of the hull shape based on calculated resistance characteristics. Powered hulls will be the first version and will include propeller sizing and engine sizing tools.
Structures
This module will focus on establishing the loads transmitted through the hull based on static and dynamic forces and aid in the refinement of the material selections and dimensions of the hull materials and strengthening members. There will be a iterative feed back through the hydrostatic elements to ensure trim, stability and target displacement are controlled.
Arrangements
When the internal volume is finally established there will be a module to assist in the fitting out of the interior (and exterior) facilities. This will include general layout as well as materials selection and, through the use of the hydrostatics module. the capturing of impact on trim and inclination to ensure the hull stays within design parameters.
While a set of basic interior elements will be available with the module there will be an online shop of additional fittings and fixtures which can be downloaded and installed into your model.
Construction
Whether the hull is to be made from fibreglass resin moulding or through welded metal panels this module will help get the most out of the materials required. Export of elements of the design to other CAD tools is supported by this module.
CNC and 3D Printer Support
As an extension to the core product will be the availability of sending hull designs to a CNC machine or 3D printer to create scale models of your hull.
